The Vaal Show is one of the largest shows in South Africa, normally taking place towards the end of September each year.  It hosts one of the largest agricultural and entertainment shows in South Africa.

The agricultural section is a showcase of horses, small stock, cattle, pigeons and poultry, and hosts several championships in these sections.

The commercial section attracts 350 exhibitors from all over the country.  Companies display their products and services either from one of the four halls or from the lockable stalls or open areas.  The goods displayed or for sale vary from clothing, jewellery, furniture, household goods, paintings, toys, motor cars, boats and general implementations, whilst the service providers range from exhibits by the local municipalities to accomodation in the area and internet services.  The Vaal Show is one of the few shows in the country which still have a productive and successful Home Economic section.

With a multitude of events taking place each day and evening, the show draws 30 000 to 50 000 visitors from all over the country.  Catering for the public is adequately provided by the restaurants and small foodstalls spread throughout the showgrounds.
